70% Off Calculator
How a 70% discount works, the final price for common amounts, and the stacking mistake people make most often.
How to calculate it
Discount = price × 70 ÷ 100
Final = price × 30 ÷ 100 = price × 0.3Multiplying by the remaining share is faster than subtracting. For 70% off, multiply the price by 0.3 and that is what you pay.
70% off by price
| Original | Discount | You pay |
|---|---|---|
| 5,000 | 3,500 | 1,500 |
| 10,000 | 7,000 | 3,000 |
| 15,000 | 10,500 | 4,500 |
| 20,000 | 14,000 | 6,000 |
| 30,000 | 21,000 | 9,000 |
| 50,000 | 35,000 | 15,000 |
| 100,000 | 70,000 | 30,000 |
| 200,000 | 140,000 | 60,000 |
| 500,000 | 350,000 | 150,000 |
| 1,000,000 | 700,000 | 300,000 |
Working backwards to the original price
Original = discounted ÷ 0.3If a 70%-off price is 30,000, the original was 30,000 ÷ 0.3 = 100,000. Adding 70% back is not the same operation as dividing by 0.3.
Stacked discounts do not add up
Taking 70% off and then a further 10% is not 80% off. The second discount applies to the already-reduced amount: 0.3 × 0.9 = 0.27, an effective discount of 73%.
